Vola builds technology for aviation organisations: an electronic flight bag for the cockpit, a training platform for the crew, an aviation SaaS on web and mobile, and the site that presents them. For two years, through Aldacı, we were its dedicated design and development team, building every product in Angular and Capacitor.

The flight bag is the most demanding of them, a tablet app for one of the most high-stress screens there is. I designed it in 2023 and in 2024 coded its complex views by hand, from a 3D route globe to decoded weather.

The flight bag (EFB), 2023

The 2023 design puts both legs of a flight, the weather, the logs and the performance tools on one screen, with the flight plan and navigation log a tap away.

The flight bag, 2024: designed, then built

The second generation was designed tab by tab in Figma, then built in Angular, Capacitor and CesiumJS: the route on a 3D globe, raw METAR and TAF decoded into a wind compass and cloud layers, runways, NOTAMs, frequencies and charts.

TAPS: grading every competency

TAPS grades every competency through its observable behaviours, session by session. Each manoeuvre carries its remarks, instructor guide, training environment and performance criteria; the hand-off frames spell out a whole simulator session for the developers. One launcher, seven modules, one Nx monorepo.

LMS: courses, lessons and reports

The LMS runs courses beside TAPS: pre- and post-exams with a passing grade, lessons as video or documents, and a report that sets an instructor's grades against fleet averages.

Easy Comply: document compliance

Operators must prove that every crew member has read the current revision of every document. Easy Comply keeps each document with its revision, reviewer, approver and status, and tracks who has read it.
